The Sculptor

He felt so high when she was at his mercy, now it's over Daniel kneels to stroke her tangled blood drenched hair. Impressed at how this once beautiful face is almost unrecognisable, he picks up the knife from the ground and with passionate movements he carves and reshapes knowing she will make the perfect figurine.

  1. In a few words you depicted quite well the artist as a mad man.

  6. Your 55 word horror is fantastic, Mariyln. Sick & gorgeous at the same time. I love the last line.

  8. Ooh, very nice! To get so much into only 55 words is a real skill...which you most definitely have. Vivid and unsettling, does your muse often work like this?! ;)

  9. Thank you Sam.

Yep, my muse works like this most of the time, just as your great muse like pixies mine like madness. ;)

  11. Let's see if my comment sticks this time.

This is a superb piece. Powerful imagery and a great example of "showing" not "telling" which is a bloody miracle in only 55 words.

Maybe we should think about a collection of some of our better flash fiction pieces.
